What should I be looking at/ for? I hear of people purchasing 'I-beat' and using JD tuners (which I've used on a Husky TE250) to clean up the FI, but that seems like something to pursue AFTER getting it back to running like normal. Bike has had a DIY 'power up kit' installed since day 1. It ran fine before and no changes were made to the programming while it was at the dealer. Once running it will idle (and ride) fine, but heaven forbid you stall in a precarious situation (which seems to be a common theme with both his 630 and my 690!) To me this seems like the same symptoms of a carbed bike with a lean pilot jet/ fuel screw. It does this with and without using the enrichment lever. It absolutely will not start in gear (even if it is fully warmed up and had just been shut off) and you have to crank on it for 15-30 seconds for it to start coughing, followed by more cranking, rinse and repeat, and eventually (usually) run.
I assumed it was just because the engine was still 'tight' since the rebuild but after several hundred miles it is no better. Once running, it runs like it always did. Since we picked the bike up it has been very hard to start. It was still under warranty so we trucked it down to the dealer and they rebuilt the engine. A little recap: less than 1000 miles ago the 630 blew the head gasket while on the freeway and blew out the side of the cylinder and the head. IBeat is able to set the fueling for low, mid, and high throttle openings with baseline at 100. This guy has them but I'm not sure where else to get them ( I really need to get one) You can buy the program and cable or just the cable. So my footpeg mount repair is holding up so far, it is now time to address the running issues. The iBeat software is downloadable from JTemple's drop box () and you need a cable - they are 150.
